Book Fair (Fall and Spring)

The Book Fair offers families an opportunity to purchase books at discounted rates. This event takes place just before Christmas break and in the Spring. To volunteer, please contact Mary Fenchak at [email protected].

GrandFriends Day

GrandFriends Day is a day to honor grandparents and/or special friends of SMS students. GrandFriends join their respective students for Mass and then visit classrooms for snacks and activities.

Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat is a well-attended social event consisting of Halloween activities and trick-or-treating. To volunteer, please contact Marlene Salinas at [email protected].

Open House

The annual SMS Open House provides an opportunity for prospective students and families to learn about our SMS community, academic successes, and Catholic values. Volunteers provide tours of the school, teachers are available for questions, and classrooms have fascinating works on display. The Open House also kicks off Catholic Schools Week! The Open House is also an excellent opportunity for existing SMS families to meet teachers and tour classrooms in preparation for the next school year. To volunteer, please contact the School Office at [email protected].

Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week kicks off with Sunday Mass and the SMS Open House. During Catholic Schools Week, students are invited to participate in a fun theme-of-the-day. SMS also shows appreciation for teachers, staff, students, and families during the festive week. To volunteer, please contact the School Office at [email protected].

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon

Volunteers staff classrooms, the cafeteria, and the School Office for a couple of hours, while teachers and staff attend an appreciation luncheon. Volunteers organize and serve the meal, provide entertainment, and shower our teachers and staff with donated gifts! To volunteer, please contact Joe Acklin at [email protected].

May Crowning and Brunch

May Crowning is a special Mass honoring Mary as the Queen of May. 8th grade students plan and participate in the Mass. Following Mass, a brunch is provided for 8th grade students and families. To volunteer, please contact Joe Acklin at [email protected].

Move-A-Thon

Move-A-Thon is the last fundraiser of the school year! Students, parents, and teachers walk, run, or roll through the St. Monica neighborhood. Students solicit donations from family and friends. The event includes a St. Vincent prayer path, encourages fitness (it is also combined with Field Day), and offers up friendly competition. To volunteer, please contact Vickie Willoughby at [email protected].

Field Day

Field Day (also combined with Move-A-Thon) offers students the opportunity to compete in group activities and games. The event celebrates teamwork, fitness, and all abilities. To volunteer, please contact Vickie Willoughby at [email protected].

8th Grade Graduation and Reception

SMS proudly hosts a Commencement ceremony for 8th graders, followed by a reception for students and families. To volunteer, please contact Joe Acklin at [email protected].

Volunteer Appreciation Gathering

The Volunteer Appreciation Gathering is a social gathering to celebrate SMS volunteers. Join us to show our appreciation to our volunteers, say goodbye to outgoing PTO board members, and welcome new PTO board members.
