Notes from the Nurse
Please review the following information to help your child have a successful day at school:
- Your child should bring a water bottle to school each day.
- Please make sure your child has breakfast each morning. If they do not eat at home, our cafeteria offers a free breakfast (and lunch!) each day. Encourage them to stop in the cafeteria to eat before heading to class.
- Check out the breakfast and lunch menu on our school website each week to make sure your child likes what is being served. If they do not like what is on the menu, please send a healthy lunch to school with them that day.
Making sure your child has a water bottle and they aren't hungry will prevent many phone calls home because your child has a headache or stomach ache.

Parent & Caregiver Literacy Tips
- Create a Reading Challenge - Set goals for the number of books to read within a specific timeframe.
- Make Reading a Celebration - Celebrate milestones, such as finishing a book or reaching a reading goal.
- Connect Reading to Real Life - Discuss how reading is relevant in everyday situations, such as following recipes or reading street signs.
Pet Blessing
On Friday, October 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, St. Monica will offer a blessing for animals. Fr. Jack will conduct the blessings this year. Bring your farm animals, service dogs, or your family pets for this special blessing. Blessings will take place in the north parking lot (at the awning entrance) at both 2:45 pm and 6:00 pm. We ask that any animal you bring be under your control as there will likely be an Ark of different animals present. Contact the parish office if you have any questions.
School Families wanting to participate will be permitted to park in the near North lot next to the building and then stay there to gather your children. Your children are permitted to come out and join you for the blessing. Please notify your teacher in advance so we can have a safe release.
