Monday is Donut Day
PTO will provide donuts to all drivers at drop off Monday morning along with a flyer on how you can support our PTO with your volunteerism. Students will not be offered donuts on Monday. Once our community takes control of the COVID spread, we can return to our larger gathering.

Book Fair
Our first Book Fair will open next Wednesday. Students will have a chance to preview next week and purchase books on September 20th and 21st. Funding will support classroom and school libraries at St. Monica.
Chess During Lunch/Recess
This program is great for ALL levels, and is taught in a fun way ! Classes (during lunch and recess, one day a week ) are being offered at St. Monica beginning The week of September 21st through November 2nd. “Learning Through Games" has taught Multiple State Champion Scholastic Teams. Teaching is always done in a child friendly way. Cost is $65 for all sessions payable to Learning Through Games, 11504, Senie Lane. Carmel, IN. Safety Gate/Playground
Our South safety gate has been installed and will assist us in keeping your children safe by keeping automobiles out of the East lot during the day. Thank you PTO!
PTO, with the help of the school budget, has raised enough money to complete the renovation of our playground. The company is having the same resource allocation problem as most other industries. Miracle Playgrounds of Indiana has stated that the project should be completed before Winter.
PK-4th Grade Spanish
Please welcome our new PK-4th grade Spanish teacher,Ms. Zurschmiede. Her email address is e.zurschmiede@smsindy.org if you would like to welcome her to St. Monica. She has already begun meeting all of our students and greeting them at drop off. She is in the process of ordering all of our materials so that Spanish classes can commence soon.
Middle School Specials
We are collaborating with Indy Urban Youth Choir to provide choir classes at St. Monica. This will provide us with the necessary teachers to create new specials schedules starting second quarter. This also means that everyone will have an opportunity to take PE, Art, Music, and Digital Literacy. Once the new schedules are created, we will provide them to the students and their parents. A specials survey will be sent at the end of next week to determine who would like to add choir to their schedule. Please respond as soon as it is sent so that we can serve your child.
Spanish/English Dual Language Immersion Research
