Lent Begins tomorrow with Ash Wednesday. Lent represents the 40 days of preparation leading up to the death of Christ on the Cross followed by the resurrection on Easter Sunday.
Why do Catholics have cross shaped ashes on their forehead? Ashes, made from blessed palms from last year’s palm Sunday, are a sign of repentance. Tomorrow, when the ashes are placed upon the forehead it is stated,”Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” Everyone is invited to receive ashes as a visual symbol of penance. Water Bottles
All students and staff received water bottles as part of the reward for the PTO Read-A-Thon success. In accordance with the Archbishop's request to be more environmentally conscience, starting Monday, we will not be providing disposable cups in the cafeteria. Please have your child bring their bottle if they would like to get water from the water coolers. They will have access to the bottle fillers and drinking fountains throughout the day as well. We will continue to reduce the use of disposables throughout the year. We will also begin other initiatives in order to reduce our environmental impact.
Annual Auction
We want everyone to attend our Auction on Saturday, March 7, 2020, St. Monica Catholic School as we host our annual fundraiser, MONICA MADNESS. It is a fun night of dinner, wine & beer, dancing, and fundraising.Our MC is Rafael Sanchez. Let’s show him a good time by attending the event. We Need Used Uniforms
Are your kids growing out of their uniforms? Our in-office supply of uniforms is in need of replenishment. Students sometimes come to the office during the school day for clean clothes due to a bathroom accident, getting wet at recess, or food spillage during lunch. We ONLY need boys navy blue pants in sizes 4-8 and girls khaki pants in sizes 14 and 16 and all junior sizes.
