Our fundraiser starts next week. You will receive a packet through backpack mail. Please help us reach our $10,000 goal so that we can begin construction on enclosing the Eagle’s nest to use as a band space. We have been using the PMC for the last 10 years and it is time to get our band in our building.

Bulletin Letter from Fr. John

Dear Family,

As we journey through these weeks of Ordinary Time Fr. Tim, Deacon Bob, Deacon John, and I are working together to preach on the meaning and significance of the Mass.  Each week the homily will focus on a segment of the Mass.  Our hope is that by stretching this series over six weeks it will allow us to grow in our knowledge of the Mass and to enter into our celebration of the Mass more deeply such that it touches all of the other time of our week and the relationships of our lives.  Spread the word to those who you think would like to learn more about why we do what we do at the Mass.  This could be especially interesting to our high school and young adult members of our families.

St. Monica Catholic School Ministry is hosting an Open House next Sunday January 26th from 11-3 pm.  This is an opportunity  for you to come and learn about our school ministry, to meet our teachers, tour the building and to ask whatever questions you may have.

Friday evening February 21 our parish is offering a retreat called “Light of the World.”  It continues during the days of Saturday and Sunday, finally concluding in the evening of Monday February 24th.  There are no overnight stays.  I invite you to prayerfully consider attending this weekend retreat.  Besides sharing this time with the Lord and with fellow parishioners, you will have an opportunity to meet other parishioners and consider joining a small faith sharing group.

You may have noticed that we have put up additional fencing on our campus around air conditioning units.   Recently we experienced several thefts on our campus of copper from our external air conditioning units and refrigerator and freezer unit for the cafeteria.  These thefts have caused extensive damage to these units for just a few dollars’ worth of copper.   Fortunately, our insurance will pay for the repair, minus a $5,000 deduction per incident.   Our hope is that the fencing will act as a deterrent to future theft.  Unfortunately, we have to absorb the costs of deductions, fencing, and overnight security for a weekend.  This is an opportunity to remind each us to be watchful for any activity that seems odd or inappropriate.  If you see something, say something.   If you would like to help us cover these unexpected costs, all contributions are greatly appreciated.

Have a blessed week!

Love, Fr. John
