Thanksgiving Break November 25-29

Thanksgiving Food Drive

In keeping with our Catholic Social Teaching of Options for the Poor and Vulnerable, we are collecting donations for St. Vincent De Paul for Thanksgiving baskets that will be offered to those in need. Your teacher will inform you of what you can bring in. We really need just one item per student in most cases this year.  CLICK HERE for the list of items and grade levels. We ask that all donations are done November 9-13.

IMMEDIATE COVID CLOSURE

Please CLICK HERE to read Fr. John’s letter regarding the immediate closure of all parish activities including Mass being virtual only until November 13th. At this time, the school is not impacted by the closure and we will remain open at this time. If you feel the need to change to elearning from in-person learning, please let Mr. Schommer know e.schommer@smsindy.org .

What happens if we need to temporarily close the school and why we would close

At this time, we are not witnessing any spread of COVID within our school. We continue to clean and disinfect often, maintain our spaced scheduling, wear our masks, wash our hands regularly, and use hand sanitizer.Families continue to monitor their family members for symptoms and keep them home as needed. There are a few reasons we would need to close part or all of the school. Here is a list of factors that could create closure:

  • Too many instructors out without available subs
  • Families sending COVID+ students to school or sending students to school from households with COVID+ family members
  • Marion County Health Department mandate
  • Indiana health Department Mandate
  • COVID symptom spread with a known positive case related to close contacts

If we close temporarily, we will continue to offer eLearning options with homework requirements and material pick up times.

To reduce the risk of closing, we must have 100% participation in daily family COVID checks. CLICK HERE for the most up to date reference. We will continue our cleaning regimen, our classroom routines and spacing, and our diligent close contact investigation and communication.

Please thank Mrs. Laura Valle l.valle@smsindy.org for her work with all close contact investigations. She has put in countless hours to keep our school and your child as safe as possible. She has maintained our protocols, data management, and procedures throughout the many COVID related issues that have arisen.
