COVID positivity rates are on the rise. Much of this is due to a relaxed approach to masking, hand washing, and sanitizer use. We created a great routine for the last few months to battle the spread of COVID but some of us are getting tired and not sure that it is necessary.
It is necessary.
Handwashing is simply good hygiene but the sanitizer and masks are the preventative measures that keep us from shutting down again. Let's continue to fight COVID, not each other, and follow the procedures that have data driven benefits. Please remember to quarantine everyone in your household if anyone has symptoms, wash hands regularly, and always wear a mask. Help us remain open and show our staff, who have changed their home and work lives so the school can be open, that you support St. Monica School's health. Use our checklist everyday. Thank you.

October 23-26 is Fall Break. We will return on October 27th. Please make sure you are following all masking and distancing guidelines while on break. We have made it this far together. Help us stay open.

First Dress Down Day
Halloween is coming. Our first dress down day of the year is October 29th. Join in the fun on Thursday, October 29th and wear a costume to school. Costumes should be appropriate for school and include a Covid compliant mask for the health and safety of all. Let’s make it a fun but safe day.
eLearning
eLearning will continue to be offered throughout the year for the safety of our families. This is a difficult task for our teachers so please respect all aspects of this system. It is not to be used for families to take vacations or because you decided not to come to school for a day. If you are on eLearning and would like to return to the classroom please email Mr. Schommer at e.schommer@smsindy.org and he will give you your date of return. The Marion County Health Department is encourging all families to return to in-person learning as they are able. We will be ready for you when you are ready for us.
COVID 19 Opening Plan
Our opening plan by all accounts has been successfully implemented. Please continue to show your teachers appreciation as they have had to double their work load to provide the educational services offered. Though there have been many changes allowed at the elememtary and middle school level, our committment to the health and safety of our staff and families is paramount. We will be opening the playground equipment to a classroom per recess period starting after Fall break. We will also allow the use of lockers soon with specific guidance as a storage for coats. Please continue to montor all people in your household daily for any symptoms and do not send anyone to school if someone in the house has symptoms. Email nurse@smsindy.org for more directions.
Free Meals
All students are encouraged to take advantage of our free breakfast and lunch through the end of 2020. You can see our menus at www.smsindy.org .
