Eagles Update January 7, 2021


Return to the Building

We are looking forward to having children and staff back in our building.  We all return to in-person learning on Monday, January 11th following our regular start time of 7:45AM.  Drop off begins at 7AM at Door 3 following the same procedure from before Thanksgiving break.  This is a return to regular classes and times with synchronous eLearner access.

If you determine that you would like your child to remain virtual starting January 11th, please contact office@smsindy.org to let us know so that we can be prepared. This includes all students that were previously eLearners prior to Thanksgiving. 

Here is a reminder of the expectations for eLearners:

  • Students are required to follow the dress code during live instruction.
  • Attendance is expected following the family handbook.
  • Students will log in to Google Classroom and attend Google Meetings.
  • Students will stay on Google Meet (camera on microphone off unless time to participate) for the duration of the designated meeting time.
  • Grades will be assigned using the current classroom grading scale per the student handbook.
  • Parents and students will communicate with the classroom teacher to clarify assignments or answer questions.
  • Families are required to pick up and drop off all necessary materials following the direction of their teachers.

Material pick up

The next material pick up and drop off  for eLearners is on Tuesday, January 19th from 5-7PM at Gym Door 14.. Please email office@smsindy.org to make arrangements if you are unable to pick up materials at that time. We will help you succeed.

Meal Service

Breakfast and Lunch remain free to all students. Please plan on using this free service while it is available.

We will continue to serve breakfast and lunch meals for free to all eLearner students through Gym Door 15 Monday-Sunday from 10-11:30am.

Potential School or Classroom Closure

Marion County has removed the school closure aspect related to positivity rates.  They are preparing to look at schools individually. More information will be provided once Marion County Health Department releases those metrics. As such, we will continue to follow all of the safety protocols involving close contact tracing and quarantines, social distancing, movement throughout the building, cleaning, and masking.

If a classroom or the school is closed, eLearning will begin. Please be prepared to make adjustments.

We require all families to go through the COVID checklist daily before getting in the car. Do not come to school if anyone has any symptoms. Email nurse@smsindy.org to get further instructions.

 

COVID NOTICE - Let’s continue to show concern for our St Monica staff and students. 

If you traveled outside the state, please do not return to in person learning until your family has quarantined for 10 days from the date of return.

If you celebrated with family and friends outside your household and did not practice 6 foot social distancing and masks, please do not return to in-person learning until you have quarantined for 10 days from the last time of contact.

Follow all COVID safety procedures including the COVID checklist every morning before leaving the house. Do not come if anyone in the household has the symptoms listed.  CLICK HERE for the checklist.

If you plan to continue eLearning instead of returning to in-Person learning, please contact your teacher and the office@smsindy.org to let us know.
