Scouts Poinsettia Sale

Scout Troops 343 and 514 will be conducting their annual Poinsettia sale as a way to decorate your home or the church for Christmas and as a fundraiser to support the Scout Troops. Consider ordering one or more to honor a loved one or giving them as a gift this Christmas season.

Orders will be accepted through November 21. Order forms and payment may be given to any scout, the parish office, or the school office. Poinsettias are $16, and checks should be made out to Boy Scout Troop 514.

For poinsettias ordered for the church, please include your memorial/honor request on the order form to remember loved ones.

Nurse Notes

As a reminder: if your child has a fever, is vomiting, or has diarrhea, they must remain at home until free of these symptoms for 24 hours without the use of medication.

A recent trend in schools is an increase in pediatric pneumonia cases, leaving parents and healthcare professionals on high alert. Pneumonia and acute bronchitis related to Mycoplasma pneumoniae bacteria have increased since late spring and have remained high, particularly in children between 5 and 17.

Infections caused by M. pneumoniae are typically mild, often resembling a common cold, but they can also manifest as pneumonia. The onset of symptoms like fever, cough, chest pain, mild chills, headache, sore throat, sneezing, nasal congestion, or runny nose is often gradual and easy to overlook or dismiss.

To help reduce the spread of pneumonia please make sure you are monitoring your child for these symptoms, especially respiratory illnesses that persist longer than expected or worsen over time, keep them home, and see a health care provider if necessary. It is important that your child receives lots of rest and drinks plenty of fluids.
