LENT
This week the Catholic church begins the liturgical season of Lent. At St. Monica we start with a Mardi Gras parade and prayer service on Tuesday afternoon and Ash Wednesday Mass to follow. We have several activities including a toothbrush toothpaste drive and out of uniform day to support our sister parish, Stations of the Cross, prayer partners, Holy Thursday Last Supper prayer service, and Good Friday Passion. Keep our community in your prayers as we navigate this liturgical season of prayer and fasting leading up to Easter.
We are having a Fish Fry every Friday during Lent. CLICK HERE to sign up to help with our fish fry or donate items. We need soda, desserts, and bottles of water. We also need people to run the cash register, keep the cafeteria clean, and serve the meals. On Friday, April 11, we will have some special Lenten activities including NJHS readers and family Lenten activity stations.
Almsgiving is a Lenten practice of charity.
- On Stations of the Cross & Mass days, we encourage students to bring canned or boxed food donations to the Narthex food pantry bin.
- Toothbrush & Toothpaste Drive - March 5 - 19 - Please donate toothbrushes and full-size toothpaste for our Sister Parish! These items will go to Honduras this summer with our Sister Parish Team to help families from St. James the Apostle parish in Lepaterique, Honduras

March 10th - PTO Meeting - Join us 6:30 - 7:30 pm in the school cafeteria as we make plans for Trivia Night, Take Out Tuesdays, Pancake Breakfasts, Moveathon, and the Shanette Gibbs Leadership Award.
March 11th - Takeout Tuesday at Noble Romans - Another month, another opportunity to eat yummy food AND give back to St. Monica. Eat at the 86th & Ditch location on March 11 and a portion of the proceeds will support SMS. Click here for more information.
March 22th - SMS Trivia Night - Click here to register. Grab a team (8 people) and register for a table. Create a team name and get as thematic as you like! Bring decor, food, and costumes (or not, your choice) and then spend the evening in friendly competition with other tables to win all of the bragging rights, and some prizes, at the 2025 SMS Trivia Night. Wine & Beer Donations for Trivia Night- SMS PTO is accepting wine and beer donations ahead of Trivia Night. Please email pto@smsindy.org if you are able to donate and share what/how much you anticipate providing. All donations should be brought to the school by Friday, March 21.
