Chess Club
This program is great for ALL levels, kindergarten through 8th grade. Weekly classes are being offered at St. Monica during lunch and recess, the week of October 21st through December 7th. Learning Through Games has taught Multiple State Champion Scholastic Teams. However they are best known for their fun style of teaching! Cost is $66. Click Here to Register
What's Happening at the Michigan Road Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library
Here are a few programming highlights coming up this month:
- LinkedIn en español – Friday, October 10th from 3:30-5:30 pm
- This program will be held in Spanish and gives attendees an introduction to LinkedIn. Attendees should have an email account set up before attending.
- Social Media Self Defense: Am I Getting Duped? – Saturday, October 11th at 3:00 pm
- Are You Smarter Than a Scammer? Spotting and Avoiding Online Scams – Monday, October 20th from 1:30-3:30 pm

IndyPL’s Fall Fest Slammin’ Rhymes Challenge
IndyPL’s Fall Fest Slammin’ Rhymes Challenge is coming up on Saturday, November 15th at Central Library. This contest is for poets, rappers, and spoken word artists in grades 6-12 and the theme this year is ‘Strength.’ This is a great opportunity for students to share their work with a broader audience, and all entries will receive a gift card for their participation. The deadline for entry is Thursday, October 30th, 2025.

October 13 - 24 - Read-a-thon - PTO's biggest fundraising goal of the year!
Information will come home in backpack mail in October. Watch for emails from Donations4Education.
Step 1: Register your child's account
Step 2: Share their personalized fundraising link with family and friends to reach the fundraising goal - $30/student ($10,000 school-wide)
Step 3: Read and log minutes read - for every appropriate level book completed the student will put their name on a book's spine in the school cafeteria
Step 4: Every homeroom that meets both its fundraising AND reading goals will become an entry for that homeroom teacher to participate in an "inflatables" race for a school-wide event like no other!
October 24 - Trunk-or-Treat
6:00 - 8:00 pm in the North Lot
$2 entry fee & food options for purchase
Sign up to be a trunk at the event - perfect for all ages
Sign up to provide candy or other items for the event - perfect for families with younger children
Sign up to volunteer at the event - perfect for families with older children
